With over 20,000 entries in our weekly draw making sure all the ‘t’s’ are crossed and ‘i’s’ dotted takes a lot of time and organisation. Managing an army of volunteers and staff to keep everything ticking is the job of Senior Lottery Administrator, Clare Stocker. We manage to catch up with Clare for a few minutes to find out more about her role, over a cup of tea of course!
How did you first get involved with Your Charity Lottery?
I first got involved through volunteering. I found out about an opportunity to volunteer in the lottery department via my husband who volunteered in patient transport.
What do you do when you are not working for DH?
Mum’s taxi for my son! I like going out on my motorbike with friends and seeing different places. I’m also involved with raising money for other local and national charities too.
How long have you been working for YCL?
2 ½ years working, volunteering prior to that.
What are your key duties?
Ensuring the new members have their forms processed, doing reports, supervising the administration team, arranging volunteers tasks, stocktakes, general enquiries…
What do you enjoy most about your role?
Seeing the community embrace supporting charities via the lottery so that we are able to provide more services to patients, their families and the general public at the hospice. I also love being able to brighten a member’s day when someone from the team tell them they are a winner.
How do you take your tea?
On tap! Milk no sugar. Usually with a biscuit or piece of cake
What is the most inspirational piece of advice you have been given and who gave it to you?
Be Kind. Be Positive. Be Happy – from my great grandmother
Today is for living, make the most of it – from a friend who was taken far too soon
