We’ve had a very busy couple of months at Your Charity Lottery.
So busy, in fact, that we didn’t even get chance to write an August Roundup! Here’s a brief lowdown on the biggest goings-on during August and September...
First of all, Dave Walker joined us as a temporary addition to the lottery team, and has now joined us on a more permanent basis. When he’s not busy helping us out, he’s a part-time stand-up comedian! Learn more about Dave here. As well as a new member of staff, we also welcomed a new beneficiary. The Special Stars Foundation offer a variety of services with the aim of improving the quality of life for people with disabilities and their families in the Hull and East Yorkshire region. You can find out more about their great work here.
Call us crazy, but we’ve already been making a start on the Christmas celebrations. Our volunteer elves have been preparing our Christmas Crackers and stockings. This year we’ll also be adding Christmas baubles to our array of products - one to look out for!
Meanwhile Angela, Community Lottery Assistant, has been working hard making contact with businesses who are happy to donate prizes for our Christmas Advent Draw which will see more prizes on offer in the lead up to Christmas for participants.
September marked the 5th anniversary of Lindsey Lodge becoming a beneficiary of Your Charity Lottery, with their first draw being held back in 2012. Since they became part of the family, an amazing £209,500 has been raised through the weekly draw, Superdraws, and the sale of scratchcards and ‘one-off’ tickets - and it’s all thanks to you! Read more about their journey with us here.
Our Community Lottery Assistants have been very busy bees lately, attending events such as the Driffield Steam and Vintage Rally, Dove House Colour Run and ‘Women’s Enterprise in the Humber’ arranged by Maureen Foers OBE of Durban Limited. They’ve also been at the Guildhall Wedding Fair promoting the Lucky In Love wedding favours in support of Dove House.
As a result of the weekly draw, eight more people have been made £1,000 richer over the last two months, and one lucky winner scooped a rollover prize totalling £2,600! Congratulations to all and thank you for your continued support. If you’d like a chance to win great prizes and be part of our family of winners, you can sign up here.
And finally, our Provide a Nurse campaign has resulted in 306 more people signing up to play the weekly draw so far, meaning we are well on our way to funding the equivalent of one nurse for a whole year at Dove House. However, we’re still a way off achieving our target of 1840 new sign-ups, so please do sign up if you haven’t so far! Learn more about the campaign here.
We have a lot to look forward to in October, but one event I would like to make supporters in Hull and East Riding aware of is an Open Day at Dove House on the 17th October, 2017. This Open Day will give you the opportunity to visit the hospice and learn more about how the hospice can support those living with a life limiting illness. Look out for news of the event on social media.
