our story
Beaumond House Hospice Care is a registered charity committed to providing supportive palliative care to patients and their families living in Newark and Sherwood.
We have four In-patient beds for people with palliative care needs, Day Therapy as well as a Hospice at Home service providing compassionate support to the community. We also offer Complementary Therapy for patients and carers who would benefit from a therapeutic approach.
In-patient care provides care for patients who require symptom management and monitoring, additional care when needed, end of life care and for carer crisis.
Complementary Therapists offer Massage, Reflexology and Reiki to patients and carers.
Bereavement Support Counselling offers individuals or groups the opportunity to explore thoughts and feelings.
Hospice at Home provides care to enable patients to remain at home and maintain a comfortable quality of life in their own familiar surroundings.
Day Therapy offers support through our team of nurses and health care assistants, chaplains and volunteer helpers.
Carers hold a monthly support group where patients attend Day Therapy, to then allow their carers to attend a coffee morning with other carers.
Beaumond House provides compassionate, skilled, professional, personalised nursing care of the highest quality for those with
active, progressive, advanced illnesses, both in the hospice and
in the community.
We provide easy access to care and value and support each person’s holistic needs from all backgrounds. We encourage open attitudes and act with respect, giving our patients dignity and independence.
Moira's Story
Moira, 88 years old, has been attending Day Therapy for around 6 months.
Day Therapy has made such a difference to me. I live alone and whilst I see my family every day there are still times that I feel lonely. Everyone here is so welcoming; from the staff to volunteers and all of the other patients – everyone remembers your name and asks about you. That was one of the things I noticed when I first came; I was introduced to everyone, and they all wanted to talk to me. Day Therapy for me is about friendship. We laugh, we have fun,we share experiences, but one of the things I enjoy the most is conversation. I like to talk to people, and these sessions give me time to talk to other people in similar circumstances to myself. Day Therapy can offer a real life line to patients, especially those living alone.

£26 Could fund the equivalent of one hour of nursing care.
£52 Could contribute towards a day of bereavement support.
