Service user Story
“Our eldest child has been masking for most of her life but when she started having physical and verbal tics around summer last year it was a scary time for all of us. We were thrown into an assessment process we knew little about and were pretty much feeling our way in the dark until we found Autism and ADHD Parent Support UK. Although I had been researching on the internet, it’s so difficult to know what information to trust and where to turn next but I felt so welcome and understood when I reached out for support. I initially took one of the courses on offer (pre-diagnosis workshop) This course has been enlightening and given me lots of ideas of how to help my child. The sections on Autism and ADHD were particularly useful as I realised that my child and some of her siblings were exhibiting traits that I didn’t realise were on the spectrum. There is a wealth of knowledge and lots of personal experience within AAPS which is shared in a genuine and non-judgmental manner. I would recommend this course and organisation to anyone who finds themselves in the position of facing assessment/diagnosis of Autism and/or ADHD. I wish this course and support had been around earlier in our process.” - Service User
THE DIFFERENCE you could make
We are a not-for-profit charity and rely heavily on the generosity of people and their donations to help provide to as many parents of children with Autism and ADHD as possible. We have no fixed or regular financial support and every £1 could help make a difference to the families who need our help.
