WHY SUPPORT US
The Charity provides practical and emotional, support for those going through a breast cancer diagnosis and those affected by it, after all you do not have to have breast cancer to be affected by it.
The Charity could not operate without the tremendous support of our members and volunteers who very kindly donate their time, skills and energies in support of local people affected by breast cancer and these include the Board of Trustees who govern the Charity, all of whom are members and volunteers.
Every pound received goes towards providing vital services for it's members and breast cancer patients. We provide the local hospitals with patient gifts packs, which give comfort for those patients going through surgery and other treatments.
For those who are going through hair loss, HER Breast Friends provides a fabulous Wig Bank offering not only wigs but bandanas, scarves, hats and other accessories in a comfortable, caring, sensitive and friendly environment.
We offer a Bra Service, which includes a measuring and fitting service. Both these services operate on an appointment system so we can ensure you will receive the best care and support within a private and comfortable environment.
The logo of HER Breast friends is a butterfly, therefore our Buddleia Complementary Therapies is aptly named, as the Buddleia bush is well known for attracting butterflies and also for its resilience in adversity.
Our Buddleia Therapy service offer a range of complementary and beauty therapies delivered in a safe and supportive environment by fully qualified and insured therapists , who know how to adapt their therapies for breast cancer patients.
Our flagship event is the annual Pink Pamper Day, a favourite among members. It's not a day about breast cancer, it's about making the most of life because of it. A free day of relaxing beauty and complementary therapies, inspiring workshops for mind body and spirit.
The breast awareness talks offered by HER Breast Friends, are a very important part of the charities volunteer work. The Breast Awareness team will visit local communities and places of work, informing members of the public, how to check their breasts and be fully breast aware as well as to encourage the uptake of attending for breast screening. The HER Breast Friends Second Friends group, was formed in January, 2022 for those diagnosed with Secondary Breast Cancer and is unique to this area. This provides much needed support for those living with an incurable but treatable condition.
As well as all the services provided above, HER Breast Friends offers a weekly craft club, exercise classes, monthly coffee mornings and various other activities throughout the course of the year.
