WHY SUPPORT US
By joining this Lottery to support Kindness Community CIC, you can help create safe spaces, reduce loneliness, support mental and physical health, and send love through letterboxes to people who desperately need it. Your support helps kindness reach the people who need it most. One day, that might include you or someone you love.
Living with complex health conditions can be incredibly isolating. When I fell ill, I lost my career, my driving licence and my confidence. For a long time, I felt alone, unsure where I belonged, and anxious about being judged. When I first hobbled into The Kindness and Wellbeing Group, I was made to feel valued and worthy immediately. I was met with understanding, compassion and genuine kindness.
I was born with hydrocephalus and after I contracted meningitis at age 42, I now struggle with balance, sensory challenges and other ongoing health issues. Yet at The Kindness Community, I am not defined by my condition. It is a safe space where I am accepted exactly as I am. No judgement. No pressure. Just kindness.
I’m originally from Poland and have very little family in the UK. When I lost my career, I lost contact with friends and colleagues. It was very lonely and I had to find new things I could do. Through the in-person and online groups, I found connection, friendship and a sense of belonging. Over time, those connections grew. The group now feels like an extended family. Even my dog, Kira, is welcomed with love and fuss, which makes the group the highlight of my week.
The impact of The Kindness Community reaches far beyond the group sessions. When my mum was recently diagnosed with cancer, she received a Kindness Kit through the post. Inside were thoughtful gifts, handwritten cards and information to help her access further support. At a time filled with fear and uncertainty, that simple act of kindness reminded her that she was not alone, and that people she had never met cared deeply about her wellbeing.
The group has also helped me rebuild my confidence. Through crafting at the group, encouragement and gentle support, I discovered the belief to start my own small business, ‘Handmade 4U’, creating handmade jewellery and gifts. I now sell my creations at the group’s ‘Show and Sell’ events and in the Online Market. Creating boosts my wellbeing and it really boosts my self-esteem when people love what I make. Knowing that my stall fee for the Online Market helps fund Kindness Kits and support others facing their own struggles makes every sale even more meaningful. Some of my creations have even gone on to be included in Kindness Kits sent to people going through hard times; a full circle of kindness that makes me so happy.
The Kindness Community didn’t just support me, it empowered me. It gave me the confidence to give back, to volunteer when my health allows, and to be part of something that truly changes lives.
